It Starts With the Will to Make a Difference

It happens. Sometimes you fall out of love with your clothes – even outfits you once couldn't take off. But before you bin it, it’s worth thinking about what other options are out there.
WHY DONATING TO CHARITY IS A WIN-WIN-WIN.
Donating clothing to charity is one of many alternatives to binning them, along with sharing, swapping and selling. It’s also the most popular, with 39% of people in Scotland now giving clothes to charity. Here are some reasons why you might want to join them…
1. IT’S GREAT FOR THE PLANET
Ever thought about what happens to your clothes once you’ve thrown them in the bin? The truth is pretty shocking. Every year in the UK, an estimated 450,000 tonnes of clothing is thrown away by households – and much of this is destined for landfill. That’s a huge amount, especially as there’s no need for any clothing or textiles to make its way into a bin. By donating your clothes instead, you can help reduce landfill, reduce demand for resource-hungry new clothes, and have a real impact in making fashion more re-usable
2. IT DOES GOOD. LOTS OF GOOD
Double the impact with just one act! With  donating your unwanted clothes to charity, you’re not only helping the environment, you’re also supporting brilliant causes and causes close to home. In fact, donated clothing is one of the biggest sources of funds for charities.
 3. IT GIVES YOUR CLOTHES A SECOND CHANCE.
Donate your unwanted clothing to charity and you can let your clothes be loved all over again. You might not be getting much use out of that jumper or t-shirt, but someone else definitely will – and they could be buying it from a charity service instead of something brand new, too. Your clothes will begin a journey and be part of new memories. Far better than being binned and forgotten or left in the ground. So share the love – donate and send your clothes on a new adventure!

4. IT HELPS KEEP THE ROOM SUPER-ORGANISED

Like most, you've probably Lost track of what’s actually in your wardrobe? Now’s the time to rediscover hidden and decide what you can let go. If there are clothes you’ve not worn for ages, you no longer need or that no longer fit, it’s probably time to find them a new home. Anything that looks too worn to donate can can also be useful as they can be sold for rags which is a big industry and benefits charities massively as expressed on BBC NEWS. If you’re worried a clear out sounds too much like hard work, fear not! Just keep a bag in your wardrobe, and pop in any items you come across that are no longer needed

KEEPING IT IN SCOTLAND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Helping our own first!

One of the main reasons Scots-aid services was founded was to help compensate for the Ayrshire & Glasgow area’s struggles with keeping the homeless safe and warm. the families in poverty with food and clothing.

DID YOU KNOW?

most charity bags posted through scottish doors actually benefit english charities first!

We’ve dedicated a lot of man-hours and invested countless resources to this cause, and hope you’ll help us continue this work by 'cleaning out your closet' See how you can do more by looking at our work below.

UN-COLLECTED CHARITY BAGS?

we can collect

One of the biggest issues outlined in a recent survey was the amount of people who go out their way to fill a bag they received through the door only to find nobody comes to pick it up leaving your good clothing sitting outside all day...

FEAR NOT!

if a charity posts a bag and doesn't come to collect. by law YOU can choose to donate that bag of clothing to whom ever you want. we can come and collect that bag and or any other items FREE of charge.

keep on reading below to see what your bag of clothing helps benefit.

Protecting the future-Helping the children

More than 1 in 4 children are living in poverty in Scotland

Donate to help children when they're at their most vulnerable. Too many children are on the edge of survival. Weak with hunger, at risk of homeless. or born with an illness they didn't ask for! Your donation will help children survive with life-saving food, water, and shelter. and donating old items is one of charities most reliable and stable ways of raising money.

Local and national charities

Local and National charities

One of our goals is to ensure that the most vulnerable and at-risk groups in the Ayrshire and Glasgow area are safe and have their basic needs taken care of. With your generous donations, you have the capacity to help us in our endeavour of Fighting Poverty which can help prevent homelessness all together.

we also collect good quality jacket, shoes, hats, blankets, tents and scarves to give to the homeless for FREE to help them through the worst of the weather has to offer.

But our biggest issue is Ayrshire & Glasgows child poverty and homelessness is on the rise since covid began and we simply don't have the donations to offer the help we would like so we really need YOUR help. no child or adult should be left starving or cold in this day in age. THE ENVIRONMENT 🌍🌎🌏

Mother nature needs our help

One of our main causes here at Scots-aid services is THE ENVIRONMENT. Our planet is dying and now needs us to help get it back by changing our ways of living.

 THE PLASTIC PROBLEM.

On average a charity foundation will distribute around 350.000+plastic bags (per company per year!) are posted every year and less than 70.000 are collected.. we aim to STOP the use of plastic bags and move to PAPER leaflets instead
PAPER VS PLASTIC. Paper is recycled and can be endlessly recycled and reused. And it degrades with time if littered. Plastic is bad and it hangs around for years when littered which it mostly is. The waste from plastic bags and packaging is also a major issue. all our plastic waste is recycled but we need to do more.
So we urge you to supply your own bags (waste bags) or shopping bags it doesn't matter. simply stick a label marked Scots-aid on it for us. By doing this we vastly reduce the manufacturing, transport and storage costs to a fraction of the cost of plastic which ultimately ends up with more money for the charities.

PLEASE FILL YOUR OWN BAGS

How it works?

what happens to your donations and how does Scotland benefit.

Charities need money and with the charity shops being closed down every few weeks and left struggling we have the answer.

Scots-Aid services are a collection service NOT an actual charity. we collect your clothing and unwanted items for charity, it then goes to our sorting facility where it gets split up into categories and sold in bulk to other second hand stores and companies. EVEN THE RAGGED CLOTHING!  it all in turn generates money to donate to charities that help our own first.

it then goes to our contracted and registered charity buyers in east kilbride, glasgow who are ALSO one of the biggest charity donators in scotland donating to the likes of

-childrens hospices in scotland

-cancer reaserch in scotland

-pet care in scotland

-end of life care for kids in scotland

and more.

So when you choose to donate to us you are guaranteed to be helping multiple SCOTTISH charities.

but we want to do more locally within ayrshire. get in touch today to donate.
